Thousands of houses in France without electricity due to Storm Goretti
France’s electricity operator Enedis reported that power has been restored to over three-quarters of the 380,000 homes initially affected by the storm. Despite this progress, outages continue in several northern and northwestern areas, including Manche, Calvados, Seine-Maritime, Eure, and Orne, as repair crews work to fully reinstate electricity.
The storm has also impacted energy production. Electric company EDF has halted power generation at the Flamanville nuclear facility since Thursday night, according to public reports.
Storm Goretti brought extremely strong winds, reaching speeds of around 200 kilometers per hour (124 miles per hour) in some areas. The highest recorded gust was 213 kph (132 mph) in Gatteville, Normandy.
Authorities said six people sustained minor injuries as a result of the storm.
