Mini-Tornado Tears Through Southwestern France

(MENAFN) A sudden mini-tornado tore through Mios in southwestern France on Saturday, leaving nearly 200 residences damaged in its wake, local media outlets confirm.

ICI Gironde reported that a ferocious wind burst—lasting mere seconds—slammed the region near noon, shearing roofs from structures, demolishing walls, and yanking trees from the ground by their roots.

Preliminary evaluations indicate zero injuries thus far, according to emergency response teams.

First responders have mobilized approximately 150 firefighters to provide critical support to displaced and affected citizens, emergency services announced.

Mios municipal authorities rapidly established an emergency shelter to accommodate victims, while community members have mobilized grassroots relief operations—sealing compromised roofs with tarps, removing toppled timber, and hauling away storm wreckage.

Social media footage captured the tornado's destructive path: towering trees crashing across roadways, patio furniture hurling across residential yards, and miscellaneous debris swirling violently through the air as the weather system barreled through the town.
